bike hub motor speed

Q:Just a quick question. What is the tooth count on the freewheel sprocket?
A:16T or 18T
Q:Do you know which one? I may want to change it to a different tooth count.
A:Please click below site. This kind of single cog. (If you told us before shipment. We can put this one in parcel for free.
Q:I still wasn’t sure what front chain wheel to rear cog combination would work best with this motor. I can get the cogs here easily. The hub motor arrives today. Well done as always! Hey, I need the Kv for the motor in RPM/V and the number of pole pairs for my controller.
A:about 19 rpm/ V, 46 pcs magnets (23 pair)
Q: I am finally setting up the new bike motor. I assume the 750w is a 48v based version so the rpm if we use the provided figure kV figure of 19 rpm/V is around 912 rpm. Am I correct? And what is the max phase current on the motor?
A:We didn’t test this hub motor on machine. We worry load it that will break this bike motor.
So don’t know max current.
max phase current is about = 1/3 of max current.
Q:Thank you for explaining max phase current but can you approximate what your other similar hub motors had for a max current and then I can approximate from there. I need it to complete setting up the controller.
For example, what is the 4T 750w 48v max current or what is the 1000w 48v 4T max current, etc. From there we can get pretty close to what it is.
I am doing lots of diagnostics and see that my bike motor is maxing out at around 731 rpm. Why am I not getting 912 rpm?I am getting a max rpm of 763. I am using a 52v battery.
A:For example: 1500w 4T no load speed is about 610rpm @48v works with square controller
1000w 4T no load speed is about 720rpm @48v works with square controller
I think your 4T hub motor max about 830rpm no load speed works with square controller
If works with sine wave controller, 10% slower than square controller, about 747rpm no load speed.

BMX 20 inch 48V 52V 1500W rear hub motor electric bike wheel

Q:Please send me a quote for this 20 inch 48 V 52V 1500 Watt rear hub motor laced to a 20 inch double wall rim with 1.75 inch tyre.
few questions:
-what is the overall diamater ( mm ) of the 20 inch rim with 1.75 inch tyre ?
-what is the dropout distance of the axle ( mm ) ?
-please send me a schematic wiring diagram of the cable wires.
-estimated delivery by standard sea freight to Sydney, Australia.
-estimated delivery time ( weeks ).

A:This 20 inch BMX rear bike motor is fit for about 110mm rear dropout. (The dia. of shaft is 14mm, 14mm screw nuts, flat is 10mm that fit for 10mm)
Please click below site.
https://www.leafbike.com/products/e-bike-hub-motor/bmx-20-inch-48v-52v-1500w-rear-hub-motor-electric-bike-wheel-1264.html
If your tire is 20 x 1.75. When you order, tire size,choose: 20 x 1.5″ / 1.75″ / 1.95″
Total size of 20 inch rim is 420mm (about 16.5″)
There is one cable from bike motor with 3 heavy green, blue, yellow wires and 5 thin red, black, green, blue, yellow wires.
It takes about 10 days to deliver in Sydney, Australia.

Q:yes I think the Power Circle 20 inch rim with 1.75 inch tyre will suit my escooter rear frame.
My rear frame dropout is 135 mm, can you replace the 110 mm axle dropout with a 135 mm axle dropout.

The hub motor looks like it has a lot of torque (N. m), do you have torque arms that can fit on each side of the axle flats.
This will allow me to fix the torque arms to my rear frame to stop the axle spinning backwards under hard acceleration.

Do you have a wiring schematic for all the wires coming out of the hub motor so I can check which wires needs to connect to my Crystalyte Controller.
Is there a wire for the hub motor temperature sensor.

thanks for assisting with my inquiry.

A:Please click below site. This bike motor is 135mm dropout.
https://www.leafbike.com/products/e-bike-hub-motor/20-inch-48v-52v-1500w-rear-bike-motor-wheel-1016.html
We don’t have torque arm now.
We have NTC-10K and KTY84-130 two kinds of temp. Can choose one of them install into motor. Will come out a white wire.

Q:What is the temperature of the two types of wire… Which one is suitable for the hub motor?

A:Both of them are suitable for the hub motor.
That depends on your controller & LCD reads which temp, NTC-10K or KTY84-130

Q:I have a Crystalyte 48V Controller from China and my display is a Cycle Analyst V3 from Grin Technologies in Canada.

which temperature sensor and wire should be selected.
what is the maximum temperature degree Celsius the hub motor can operate to without damage or burn out.
Our weather is very hot in Summer season and a lot of my customers have burned out their hub motors because of high temperature when riding up hills.

My new hub motor kit is all hooked up

Q:My new hub motor kit is all hooked up as directed an error 7 keeps popping up. I checked the wires all tight an right and still error 7.
A:Don’t care error 07.After work for 2 seconds. It will be off.
Q:Does not go off
A:If always error 7.Please check white plug’s red,black,green,blue,yellow wires.
Q:Have checked all wires an are tight and correct still error 7. So has to be bad bike motor. So what happens now refund or send me a hub motor that works.
A:Impossible to have issue for hub motor.
Q:I will try what you say with white wire an yes possible motor not work because this one doesn’t work I will get back to you on this if works fine if not we have a refund coming to me for bike motor at least.
A:Disconnect this big white plug. Motor still can work, but with error 07.
So should check this white plug ‘s each wire, each pin.
After each pin is good, each wire is good. Plug this big white connector to controller, then error 07 will off.
Q:Got error 7 off an right direction in pas 2 but switch to pas 3 an now don’t work at all no error 7 or anything just don’t throttle in any pas.
A:It doesn’t matter with PAS.
Could you take a video for this issue? Thanks.
Q:Hub motor made a electric sound but didn’t move an I’m not a video tech.
Disc is on left it’s not installed an bike is upside down an motor run right direction then wired all back an tried throttle a motor worked shut off an turned back on no errors on screen but now no throttle.
A:P09 must be “0” (Be 0, motor stops, turn throttle, motor works)
If be 1, throttle not work. Must push wheel, after wheel turn, turn throttle, motor works.
P10 must be 2. (If be 0, throttle Not work.)
Press “up” and “down” togehter. Then set P 01 , P 02…
Please check P09, P10
P 09 = 0
P 10 = 2
Q:Thank you the 0 on p9 worked all is working now wow thanks a lot.

set bike motor controller

Q: When I have put on the washers and Shimano cassette lock ring the dropout spacing goes from 135mm to 140mm. Is this normal? It is a tight fit in an aluminium mountain bike frame and I have to press a bit with my thumbs but it does go in ok and then the wheel spins fine. Does this sound ok?

A: This cassette version hub motor should reach about 137~140mm.
It’s normal.

Q: Many thanks for a great bike motor and fast reply to emails. Just posted a rave review. Only issue is many ebikes could do with more info. regarding programming for hub motor controllers and displays.
I’m trying to program for a KT-LCD3 display so can you tell me the
P2 Wheel Speed Pulse Signal Setting (pulses per revolution)
C2 Motor Phase Classification Coding Mode (I’m using a KT sine wave controller)

I’ve already got this manual and it does NOT tell me the specific answers to my 2 questions. Please pass my questions on to one of the electrical engineers at Leafbike.

A:
P manual comes with LCD.
Set P as below:
P1= 46
P2= 0
P3= 1
P4= 0
P5= 15
Don’t set C.

Q: Thanks and will try out the settings.

Order inquiry for bike motor and spokes

Q: I am looking for a rear hub motor, however I can not find in your website. I need a rear bike motor installed in the rim. My rear wheel tire is 27.5” x 2.4”. I am looking for only 1000w 48v.
If you have in stock, please send me the link so I can go forward with a purchase.

A: Please click below site.
Rim is 32mm width. Fit for 27.5 x 1.95″ ~ max 2.4″
https://www.leafbike.com/products/e-bike-hub-motor/27.5-inch-48v-52v-1000w-rear-bike-motor-wheel-1374.html

Q: Thank you for your response. I have a question for you. What is the sprocket type? I am looking for a freewheel sprocket.

A: Default: freewheel

Q: Before I begin to purchase a new hub motor I want to mention something. 4 years ago I ordered a 48v 1000w 700c rear wheel bike motor e bike kit from leaf bike,  and I still have it till this day….I enjoy using it and I am having a lot of fun with it and I want to keep it….I recently ordered a brand new bike and I really want to exchange my original e bike kit into my new bike, however my new bike is on a different size rim (27.5” x 2.4”).
I have begun this project of mine and I am facing a problem with my spoke install. I ordered 36 x 170mm spokes from a bike store, installed the 1st and 2nd set of spokes easily, however, to do the 3rd and 4th set is impossible as I can not reach the rim hole. I noticed on your website that size 170mm spokes are the correct size length, they are 12 gauge, I followed the exact same spoke  pattern as the 700c wheel, yet I have no success. What am I doing wrong?

A: 700c rim is about larger than 27.5 inch
27.5 inch is a little than 26 inch

Leaf Ebike Kit Questions

Q: I would like to purchase a 27.5″ electric hub motor kit that fits in 135mm dropouts and I have a 72v (20s) battery capable of 80A continuous that I would like to use.  Several questions please:
A. Can I buy a 27.5″, Freewheel, Rear, Wide Rim, kit that fits in 135mm dropouts with the “2000W ~ 5000W programmable controller” instead of the controller that normally comes with the hub motor kit and if yes, what would the total price of the hub motor kit be before shipping cost are added?
B. What is the internal width of the widest 27.5″ rim you have available?
C. Can I get the 5mm phase wires with the motor configuration I specified in “A.” above?  If yes, how much would it change the price?  If no, what are the largest diameter phase wires I could get?
D. Do all Direct Drive Leaf motors now use the .035″ thick laminations?  I would definitely want them.

A: A. 135mm dropout – max make 48v 1500w rear bike motor, see below drawing. no room to make 2000w motor. (This 48v 1500w motor with 3mm phase wire can work with 48v or 52v or max 60v)
https://www.leafbike.com/u_file/2301/01/photo/1500w-rear-bike-motor-drawing_53f4287594.jpg

But, if no freewheel, not pedal, can make it to be 48v 2000w front bike motor(see below drawing) that fit for 135mm dropout and can use “2000w~5000w programmable controller”
This 48v 2000w motor with 6mm phase wire can work with 48v or 52v or 60 or 72v batteries.
https://www.leafbike.com/u_file/2301/07/photo/2000w-front-beach-snow-fat-bike-motor-drawing_bbdbc1e4ce.jpg

We have three kinds of 27.5 inch rim, one is 23mm width, the other two is 25mm and 32mm width.   (Max 32mm width)

If 26 inch, we have 25mm, 32mm, 80mm width rims.

B. Our 27.5 inch 32mm width rim, internal width is 25mm

C. 48v 2000w can use 5mm or 6mm phase wires.  (But 48v 1500w max use 3mm phase wires.

D.  All of our motors use .035″ thick laminations

Q:
Two more question regarding the “48v 1500w rear bike motor” phase wires:

A. Are the phase wires 3mm in diameter or 3mm in cross sectional area?

B. Is the 3mm dimension for the actual copper wire or the overall including the insulation?

Inquiry Hub bike motor

Q: Cengalo is a Startup for a 4 wheeled lightweight car with 2 bike Hub motors on the rear wheels.
We plan a speed of approx 75 Km/h, downhill, with 20 inch wheels.
Can you offer the 48V 52V 1500W front spoke hub motor – electric bike motor with appox 800 rpm?
Motor type: brushless bike motor
Voltage: 48V / 52V
Power: 1500W
Max efficiency: 90.5%
RPM: 600
Mechanical brake: V
Cable location: shaft end, Left

It's very fast. (Default the fastest) But also, we can make faster bike motor (over 700rpm) Q: The higher speed hub motor can be interesting for the vehicle. Than we can use 48V battery. We have yet to decide if the vehicle is 48 or 72 volts batteries. With the higher voltage (72V) battery, the same hub motor would have a 1.5 times higher speed. Do you have experience what is better for the car? A: This 1500w bike motor max use about 2.5mm phase wires. Can work with 72v battery. But uphill,if cable too hot, should stop at once. Q: Can you give a wholesale quote for the 1500W front spoke hub motor 100 psc / 500 pcs / 1000 pcs per order? We calculate the Cangalo Smartcar with this offer. Unfortunately we can't place an order until 28.2. We have to develop the vehicle, Cengalo Smartcar, first. You always answered quickly and hopefully will continue to do good prices in the future, so we can well imagine ourselves with Leafbike as a long-term supplier work.

What’s the difference between 36V 500W,36V 750W and 48V 1000W hub motors

Q:What’s the difference between 36V 500W,36V 750W and 48V 1000W hub motors

A:36V 500W,36V 750W and 48V 1000W hub motors are all used for electric bikes, also called electric bike motors. They have the same figuration. These three motors are all made of the same hub, covers,
axis, bearings, hall sensor. So they look the same, but they have different magnet and rotor-winding.

36V 750W and 48V 1000W are the same hub motors, just work at different voltage, has different watts.

But for 36V 500W × 36V 750W(48V 1000W)
The difference between them is that gauge of the coil wires, turns number of the coils and height of magnet.

The height of 36V 500W hub motor’s magenet is 24mm,but 750W hub motor reach 30mm.Picture enclosed.

In market,36V 500W is easy to find it,but difficult to find real 36V 750W hub motors.

In China,36V 500W(48V 600W) motors are very popular and used for electric bikes, these motors seem to ours, but No.The height of our magnet is 6mm more than as usual, reach 750w or 1000w.North America like them, more like high speed motors,we can customize motor speed as customers’ actual need.

Now 26″ 36V 750W bike wheel reaches 20m/h and the speed of 48V 1000W is 27m/h.It’s standard speed.

Also, can you sale with 750W sticker or engrave on bike motor?

A: We can make this 20 * 4 wide Fat Bike wheel.
Please click below site. This is our 20 inch 48V 1000w Fat bike wheel – It’s 20 inch bike conversion kit for fat snow bike.

We also can make 1500w bike motor.
* 1500w with 20 * 4 — Okay. (If your tire is 20 * 4 “, 20 * 3” rim is much better fit for 20 *4” tire. Also,we have 20 *4” rim)
* Please click above site. Wheel looks the same this one.
* At least the dropout 170mm or more
* With temp
* Can use single speed. But min 16 tooth can be installed on this motor. (Can’t use 11 or 12 tooth, only no motor hub use this 11,12)
* Ship to USA is okay.

Q: The tire is “Stingray tire” type. 20″ * 4 1/4″. If you think 3″ wide wheel will fit better ok. 16t freewheel is ok. Rather 1500w if motor will handle more power. Which turn count do you recommend for speed 35mph?

A: We recommend leaf 13 * 5T winding rotor.

1500w rear hub motor with bike rim

Q: I’m looking for a powerful direct drive rear hub motor for a 26″ MTB.
I’ve been looking at this motor:
1.Is this the best 26″ rear hub motor you have or do you recommend any other bike motor?
2.Can this hub motor be delivered with a temp sensor installed?
3.What type of gear cassette will it be able to fit with a 135mm dropout? (How many gears)
4.Can this bike motor run higher than 48 Volts? 52 Volt maybe? Or 72 Volt?

A: 1. We have 26 inch 48V 1500W rear hub motor. We recommend this one
2. With temp
3. Max 7 speed and fit for 135mm dropout. Default for screw on sprocket.(If you need to install cassette sprocket, should leave message when you order.
4. We recommend work at 48V battery.(Max 60V)

Q:Can this same rear hub motor also be delivered with a 27.5″ x 50mm tubeless rim?
I will install a 7-speed cassette sprocket, so very good that it supports this.

A: 27.5” and 26 inch are different rim.
If 27.5” rim is smaller than 700c and larger than 26 inch rim?
* If you need to install your 7-speed cassette sprocket. Please Note when you order.

Q: I want to use the newest 1500w hub motor in this bike:
If you press the green + (View all components) on the page you can see that it has 27.5 INCH x 50mm, tubeless ready rims and 142x12mm (Ai offset lacing) rear drop out.

So I’m wondering if you can deliver the hub motor with a rim that’s the same dimensions as the original rim?

A: We have some sample of 27.5 inch rim in stock. Looks the same to the one on your site.
We only ship two 27.5 inch hub motor kits to USA one time two month ago.(ONLY one customer need this 27.5 inch by now)
