{"id":720,"date":"2025-04-05T14:00:05","date_gmt":"2025-04-05T06:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.leafmotor.com\/blog\/?p=720"},"modified":"2025-04-05T14:01:19","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T06:01:19","slug":"26-inch-electric-hub-motor-kit-for-the-dropout-160mm-fork","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.leafmotor.com\/blog\/26-inch-electric-hub-motor-kit-for-the-dropout-160mm-fork\/","title":{"rendered":"26 inch electric hub motor kit for the dropout 160mm fork"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Q: Are you able to supply a rear <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leafbike.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>hub motor<\/strong><\/a> kit wheel (36v @ 500W &#8211; 750w) for a rear dropout of 160mm?<br \/>\nI have an existing e-bike that uses a 250w geared rear hub drive on a 26 x 1.95 wheel.<br \/>\nIt has a 7 speed gear, standard 160mm disk brake and a bike mount (frame) width of 160mm.<br \/>\nI would be happy to go from a geared (small hub) to the larger electric <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leafbike.com\/products\/diy-bike-conversion-kit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>bike motor kit<\/strong><\/a> type.<br \/>\nThe existing bike frame is steel (not carbon or an alloy) so I may be able to &#8216;bend&#8217; the rear forks&#8230; (fit).<br \/>\nI have included a PDF diagram (attached) to show the existing rear hub motor fitting size.<\/p>\n<p>A: Yes, we have dropout of 160mm 36V 750W <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leafbike.com\/products\/e-bike-hub-motor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>electric bike motor<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Q: With the new Leaf controller and LCD, I know I can limit the maximum output speed of the 750w Direct Drive hub motor to a set (safe) maximum speed for each PAS mode 1 &#8211; 5.<br \/>\nWith our Australian laws, I want to honor speed and safety &#8211; yet have a safe speed and torque (reserved) for hills.<br \/>\nI respect that you have kindly supplied my order with a 320RPM hub motor ( a good choice).<br \/>\nMy question is: &#8220;Does the max speed by set by LCD \/ Controller economically limit the maximum current sent to the hub motor&#8221;?<br \/>\nI am talking here about battery life with a low speed LCD \/ Controller setting &#8216;modulating&#8217; the full power sent to the hub motor.<br \/>\nSo if I program the setting to say 25Km\/h, then is the torque output effected at speeds less than the given 25Km\/h?<\/p>\n<p>A: Yes, if you set max 25kmh by LCD, motor will work less than 25kmh.(You can set max 10kmh,11kmh,12kmh&#8230;.48kmh,49kmh,50kmh)<\/p>\n<p>1.Press \u201cSW\u201d from LCD. Turn on LCD<br \/>\n2.Press \u201cup\u201d &#038;\u201ddown\u201d together for more than 2 seconds in 3 seconds after LCD display \u2013 Then \u201c72\u201d will flash.<br \/>\n3.Press \u201cdown\u201d or \u201cup\u201d to set any max speed. Press \u201cSW\u201d one time to save. Then \u201c26\u201d will flash. It\u2019s tire size. Don\u2019t set. Still press \u201cSW\u201d one time to save. Then \u201ckmh \/ mph\u201d will flash. Don\u2019t set. Press \u201cSW\u201d one time to save.<br \/>\n4.At last, press \u201cSW\u201d more than 2 seconds, then will be back.<\/p>\n<p>There is a Three button switch inside parcel. <\/p>\n<p>** Black switch (be Left side \/ Middle \u2013 motor works forward.  Be right side, motor works backward\/reverse)<br \/>\n** Red switch (Be left side \/ regen off. Be right side \/ regen on)<br \/>\n** Green switch ( When motor is working, press this green switch one time.
