motor controller cut off voltage

Each motor controller has min cut off voltage and max working voltage.

For example:
48v Controller’s cut off at 40v. Less than 40v, not work.
36v Controller’s cut off at 30v. Less than 30v, not work.

For 48v electric bike motor kit system. We recommend reach set cut off voltage to over 42v by LCD. Less than 42v,should charge battery. It’s good for battery.

These days, all kinds of lithium batteries was made by 13 series connection or 14 series connection cells to be 48v, 52v.

Each cell – min about 2.8v , max about 4.2v
13 series – 4.2v x 13 = 54.6v
14 series – 4.2v x 14 = 58.8v

Overdischarge and overcharge both Not good for battery.
For example: if set it to 40v (controller’s cut off voltage is 40v)

2.8 x 14 = 39.2v (about 40v)

If 14 series connection cells ‘s min voltage to be 2.8v at the same time. That’s good.

But ride half a year, cut off voltage still 40v.
If No. one cell ‘s min voltage is 2.7v, second is 2.9v, third cell is 2.9v….
Total voltage is 40.4v ( 2.9 x 13 + 2.7v)

If first cell’s voltage to be 2.7v, it’s overdischarge, battery can’t to be charged. Battery is broken.
So we recommend charge battery when it reach about 42v or over.

If min 42v
No. one cell ‘s min voltage is 2.9v, second is 3.0v, third cell is 3.0v….
Total voltage is 41.9 v ( 3.0 x 13 + 2.9v)

New battery doesn’t have this issue. If ride 1-2 month, we recommend charge battery @ 42v or over.

For example: cell phone, only leave 20%,need to charge. If use out all that will break cells, also very hard to charge.

So we recommend set cut off voltage by LCD that over controller’s cut off voltage.

1500W Leaf Motor with 20″ x 4″ wide “Fat Bike” wheel

Q:Do you sale 1500w or higher hub motor laced into wheel that is 20” diameter by 4” wide for fat tire bike? If so, what are the dropout width options for axle? Can axle dropout width be 150mm wide or even wider? I have a bike frame with 170mm dropout width. I can use torque arms and spacers to fill some of this space, but not too much.

If available please quote price for:
~1500w newest model hub motor with 20” diameter x 4” width wheel (pre-laced service)

Q: The tire is “Stingray tire” type. 20″ * 4 1/4″. If you think 3″ wide wheel will fit better ok. 16t freewheel is ok. Rather 1500w if motor will handle more power. Which turn count do you recommend for speed 35mph?

A: We recommend leaf 13 * 5T winding rotor.

your choose of bike kit

The interest in electric bicycles and other Light Electric Vehicles (LEVs) is exploding as gas prices rise across the globe. LEVs are perfect for those who are tired of sitting in traffic or being cramped into crowded public transportation. But with any major purchase, be sure to do your research. Here are 3 things you should keep in mind before making your purchase.

As gas prices rise across the globe, so does the interest in electric bicycles and other Light Electric Vehicles (LEVs). These LEVs are perfect for those who are tired of sitting in traffic or being cramped into crowded public transportation. But like any major purchase, it’s worth doing right. Here are three things you should keep in mind before making your purchase.

Bike Motor Kit?

One of the first questions you’ll face when upgrading to an electric bicycle is whether to buy a separate bicycle or upgrade your current one. To upgrade your current bicycle, you can purchase a motor kit designed for this purpose. This might seem intimidating – but don’t let it be. All the best electric bicycle motor kits come with easy-to-follow installation instructions. Installation is quick, too. You could get your kit and be riding your new bike in the same day. For those who prefer to be hands off, there are plenty of options for buying ready-to-go bicycles. Both of these options function just like a normal bicycle except with some extra battery assistance. You won’t be getting the same speed and power as you would from a motorcycle.

Know Your State’s Law

If you’re planning to purchase an electric bicycle to use in the United States, you need to be aware of your own state’s laws. Most states hold up the national policy that electric bikes must operate under 20 mph and have a limit of 750 watts. However, the companies who produce these bicycles are not regulated. This means they could produce a bicycle or motor kit that could be illegal. Also, most states don’t require you to get special insurance for your electric bicycle as you would need for a regular company. But you’ll want to check the Internet for any changes in policy that might occur. Since electric bicycles are relatively new, the laws and regulations around them could change very quickly.

Choosing a Battery

When purchasing an electric bicycle or a motor kit, you’ll come across various options for the battery power. More than anything, the choice of battery depends on how you will be using your bicycle. Riding in hilly areas or adding additional weight by pulling a trailer will drain battery power faster. Your best selection would be a Lithium Ion (Li Ion) battery as it surpasses all other battery types in the number of recharge cycles it can go through. Basically this means that you can go longer without having to purchase a new battery. Also, just like all other batteries, these batteries come in different voltages. Though the higher voltages will cost you more money, they will last longer and perform better, we offer you including financing assistance.

Purchasing an electric bicycle for the first time can be a confusing experience. However, deciding whether you want a new bike or a motor kit, knowing your local laws, and choosing the best battery for your needs will help you make the best purchasing decision possible.

Three-phase bike motor kit of basic work processes

1) When the bike motor kit access three-phase three-phase AC power (the difference of 120 electrical degrees), the three-phase rotor winding generate current flow through the three-phase symmetrical three-phase magnet force (the rotor rotating magnetic momentum) and produce rotating magnetic field to synchronize the rotor and rotor speed no along the inner circle space for clockwise rotation.

(2) The conductor of the rotating magnetic field and the rotor has a relatively cutting exercise, according to the principle of electromagnetic induction, the rotor conductors (rotor winding is closed channels) induced electromotive force and induced current (induced electromotive force in the direction with the right-hand rule to determine).

(3) According to the electromagnetic force law, the role of the EMF, the rotor conductors and the induced electromotive force will produce basically the same as the direction of the induced current. Current-carrying conductors of the rotor magnetic field generated in the rotor magnetic field by the electromagnetic force (with the left hand direction of the force is determined), electromagnetic force on the rotor shaft to form the electromagnetic torque, the rotor drive motor rotating magnetic field along the direction of rotation when the motor shaft with a mechanical load, then out the output mechanical energy. As part of the flux ring is not short-circuit short-circuit ring than the leading part of the flux, the direction of motor rotation direction with the same rotating magnetic field.

26 inch electric hub motor kit for the dropout 160mm fork

Q: Are you able to supply a rear hub motor kit wheel (36v @ 500W – 750w) for a rear dropout of 160mm?
I have an existing e-bike that uses a 250w geared rear hub drive on a 26 x 1.95 wheel.
It has a 7 speed gear, standard 160mm disk brake and a bike mount (frame) width of 160mm.
I would be happy to go from a geared (small hub) to the larger electric bike motor kit type.
The existing bike frame is steel (not carbon or an alloy) so I may be able to ‘bend’ the rear forks… (fit).
I have included a PDF diagram (attached) to show the existing rear hub motor fitting size.

A: Yes, we have dropout of 160mm 36V 750W electric bike motor.

Q: With the new Leaf controller and LCD, I know I can limit the maximum output speed of the 750w Direct Drive hub motor to a set (safe) maximum speed for each PAS mode 1 – 5.
With our Australian laws, I want to honor speed and safety – yet have a safe speed and torque (reserved) for hills.
I respect that you have kindly supplied my order with a 320RPM hub motor ( a good choice).
My question is: “Does the max speed by set by LCD / Controller economically limit the maximum current sent to the hub motor”?
I am talking here about battery life with a low speed LCD / Controller setting ‘modulating’ the full power sent to the hub motor.
So if I program the setting to say 25Km/h, then is the torque output effected at speeds less than the given 25Km/h?

A: Yes, if you set max 25kmh by LCD, motor will work less than 25kmh.(You can set max 10kmh,11kmh,12kmh….48kmh,49kmh,50kmh)

1.Press “SW” from LCD. Turn on LCD
2.Press “up” &”down” together for more than 2 seconds in 3 seconds after LCD display – Then “72” will flash.
3.Press “down” or “up” to set any max speed. Press “SW” one time to save. Then “26” will flash. It’s tire size. Don’t set. Still press “SW” one time to save. Then “kmh / mph” will flash. Don’t set. Press “SW” one time to save.
4.At last, press “SW” more than 2 seconds, then will be back.

There is a Three button switch inside parcel.

** Black switch (be Left side / Middle – motor works forward. Be right side, motor works backward/reverse)
** Red switch (Be left side / regen off. Be right side / regen on)
** Green switch ( When motor is working, press this green switch one time. LCD is display C, motor will work as the same speed) – Re-press this green switch one time, or press brake lever, turn throttle to max, motor will stop.

I want to purchase one of leaf hub motor kits

I have done a lot of research and leaf motor and services keep coming up as a fine choice.

My original choice was the 3000 watt hub motor but I have already spent a lot of money on the electric bike and so that will have to come later but from what I have read this one may do just fine.

I currently run a 6T hub motor with a 48V 20A battery pack in a GT bike frame I build a few years ago and really like the way the hub motor runs but would like more speed so I ordered a new Raptor 76r frame and plan on using leaf motor in that setup so my questions are as follows:

The frame has 150mm dropouts in the rear.
From the previous build I already have a premium 48V 20A rated up to 50A output lithium battery pack that I paid 900.00 to have built so I will have to base the new hub motor and brushless controller around this for now.

AT first I was just going to get the 26 inch 1500 watt 4T leaf hub motor kit but then read it was better to have these in the 17” or 19” motor rim for this frame

Do you offer the hub motor with the 150mm axle?

I want this to run at close 40mph / 60kph the 4T should do that but I also would like the upgraded controller over the standard. What is the best motor controller you offer with the 1500 watt motor?

I also noticed you had a 2000 watt motor in the motorcycle section. Is this hub motor available for the bicycle kit and what are the specs on it?

What controller does the 2000 watt motor use?

I am going to buy at least 2 of these. One in the next week +a bare spare and another in a month or so and then probably 2 or 3 after that. I have several friends that want a bike like mine so after I get mine done will be building theirs as well.

At the least I will order the standard 1500 watt hub motor kit in either the 26 or 24 or 20 rim and then I will just pick up a spare bare hub motor and lace the rim myself.

Interested In Buy This Hub Motor

Q: I am very happy in viewing your electric bike rear direct drive with
26 inch hub motor wheel item ID # LBM26481500RN. My e-bike setup is 60 volts. Do you
manufacture 26×2.0 inch wheel with 60 volts 1500W rear direct drive
hub motors?
Secondly, also can you fit the bike motor in a fully BLACK rim without any
silver around the rim so it can match with my front wheel because I
use hydraulic disc brakes?
If there is anything that you need to ask me that I am missing, please
feel free to ask, that the purchase moves smoothly and correctly.

A: This 26 inch 48V 1500W rear hub motor wheel can work at 60V.Also,we can spoke this hub motor with all black color rim.

Q: Just a few more questions before I buy, because everything needs to be correct.
Can this bike motor fit any size frame bike?
Is it suitable for regenerative braking?
Does it have three phase hall sensors?
Can it fit 8 gear cogs? Which I am using at the moment with my old motor.
Please tell me the total length of the motor axle from end to end
because I’m using a rear rack ?

A: This 26 inch bike motor is fit for 135mm rear dropout. If your motor controller with regenerative braking function, will have it. It’s three phase with three hall sensors. One cable with 9 wires: heavy yellow, heavy blue, heavy green wires are motor phase wires. Thin red +5V, thin black / GND. Thin yellow, blue & green three wires are connected to three hall sensor.
It can fit for max 7 speed for 135mm dropout. If your frame can be larger, about 140mm,install 8 speed on this rear hub motor is no problem.
Total length of this shaft is 210mm.

Extra wiring connector after install completion

My wife & I purchased an electric 700c front wheel – bike motor kit from you earlier this year.
In my 37+ years working on bicycles the “road bike” brake levers included with our wheel are the first I’ve seen with mountain bike cable connectors.

I’ve completed the installation of the new 700c motorized wheel shipped to us in perfect condition.

I was pleased that the pedal assist bracket and cable were included in the package even though I had to epoxy the pickup to the front bottom bracket housing for it to “see” the magnetized ring portion of the assembly. I use a “five minute” epoxy I’ve been happy with several years now!

I had to purchase and install a new mountain bike fork on our pre-2000 Cannondale tandem to adequately support the electric wheel. I had also to install a rim tape over the spoke head access holes on the wheel where the inner tube fills the space inside the tire. Only the threaded portion of the inner tube valve protrudes from the inner accessible area of the exterior wheel rim opposite the wheel hub. I chose a puncture-resistant slime filled tube to use with the road bike tire on the wheel. Servicing the tire “on the road” with that wheel isn’t a pleasant prospect. I praise God that I have the health, experience and knowledge to maintain and service assemblies of this type!

Question: After completion of the e-bike wheel install and the wiring connections (less the two leads to the yet-to-arrive battery), I still have a white plastic electric connector with 3 prongs within. What might this remaining connector be for?
