The issue about electric bike battery for bike kit

We purchased an electric bike kit including motor controller, hub motor wheel, throttle, brake lever and with 36V 12AH Lithium Ion electric bike battery that used for testing 36V solar charger from one supplier, not from leaf motor. After charging this electric bike battery for 10 hours by better solar power, full charged, we rode the bike, but hub motor wheel only run about 8km. Then we use 110-230Ac charger to charge this electric bike battery and full charged it. After test, we found this hub motor wheel is still lasted for around 8km.

We use a amp meter in series to electric bike kit system, powered on and rode it. We got the current is about 5A. The RPM is 257RM. We use 26 inch hub motor wheel.

We calculate the speed is about 32Km/per hour.
See below formula:
(3.14×26”×0.0254)× 257RPM × 60 minutes ÷ 1000 (m-Km)=32km

If this is 12Ah battery, per hour lost 8ah.We can use 1.5 hours.
See below formula:
12Ah ÷ 8ah/per hour= 1.5hours

We think full charge this electric bike battery per time, the hub motor wheel can run about max 48 km. 32km/per hour × 1.5 hours = 48 km

There is definitely a problem with this electric bike battery, I’m not sure whether electric bike kit is because of the solar charging or our testing, or if it has a fault. But I need a replacement electric bike battery asap, because we don’t have any more 36v electric bike battery, and we sold 1 set of electric bike kit with lithium battery last week. I think BMS inside this electric bike battery no problem. The problem comes from the lithium battery cells. Maybe this electric bike battery had stayed in warehouse for a long time and haven’t charged it. It will make the electric bike battery cut down the achieve distances and use life.

So if solve this problem and let my hub motor to work asap, only replace all cells or replace new electric bike battery.

We are angry with our supplier, sent them many emails and no any reply.

electric bike kit doesn’t work

electric bike kit doesn’t work…
Q:Help me! my electric bike kit doesn’t work. Then I turn on the key on the battery the 3 lights on the thumb throttle starts to light. then I press the thumb throttle the motor make a small noise 1 second and doesn’t work. The 3 lights doesn’t light anymore until about 30 seconds later.
I haven’t installed the PAS. Do I have to do that before the bike will be able to spin?
A:Don’t worry.
Could you take a photo with your wires how to connect about your electric bike kit?
1.Non’t connect eight wires(5 hall+3 motor) of motor,turn the motor with your hand.If it runs freely means the motor is good.
2.Then try electric bike kit again
1).disconnect the cruise green connector(green and blue wires)
2).check the throttle connector,make three wires are connected well.(red -red,black-black,green-white) or you could use another twist throttle to replace this.
3).make sure the connector of the battery positive is good.
Q:I disconnect the wires to the motor and the wheel run freely. I connect again.

I disconnect cruise control (green and blue)
I check throttle wires, okay
I check battery wires
I turn on the battery with the key and press the throttle but there is no difference. (It doesn’t work)
I remove the thumb throttle and replace it with the twist throttle , but it still doesn’t work.
I connect the cruise control but its still doesn’t work.
A:Is your thin red battery wire(power switch) connected okay,this wire means a lock,if you connect this wire to battery +,it will make the motor run.
If this isn’t connected well,electric bike kit can’t work.
Q:I took a look at the thin red wire (power switch) that is connected to the bigger red wire labeled +. It look good and has no loose ends.

hub motor shook when powered on

Answer 4:My 36V 250W 26″ kit also exchanged these two wires.

Answer 5:No exchange thin red and thin black wires,just exchange three thick yellow,blue,green and three thin yellow,blue,green wires. Exchange 12 times,must find one kind of right phase and system can work normal.

Answer 6:Had better to connect wires as instruction,sometime connect wrong wire will break controller.Even if done wire connecting,still need to re-check connecting.At last put on battery.

need user manual for 700c 250w electric bike kit

Q:Ordered 1 set of bike conversion kit from leafmotor couple days ago.
Waited for nearly 7 days,picked up box in local post office.
Disconnect this package,everything is nice,especially LCD display,as said,it can display speed,mileage,battery gauge..
Happy to done conversion,spend half a day.Hub motor works well.But can’t find any data display on this LCD, I don’t know how to set this LCD.

Need a user’s manual for set LCD, urgently!!!

Power on 48V li battery,three leds(green,yellow,red) be on.
I ride for a long distance last time.Three leds still be on together.I thought it still could run more.After ten minutes later,green led was off.Only yellow and red leds be on and climb a steep hill,the bldc motor stopped.Turn off,then turn on,still can run.But it would stop at once.

That LCD is really good,can display the voltage of battery,speed,mileage etc correctly.

1.More than 48V,green,yellow,red three leds all ON.
2.From 47V~48V,green OFF,yellow and red ON.
3.Below 47V,only red ON.

The difference between them is with gears / without gears.

High power motors

I have tested the new wheels and the performance from them is perfect.

I have tried them in my bike that has the 24″ 48v1000w rear wheel that I bought from leafmotor in July 2010. This bike has 48v Lifepo4 battery and max speed is 36km/h with the July 2010 motor.
When I put the new 26″ 48v1000w wheel in this bike max speed is 50 km/h.
Then I tried the 26″ wheel in another bike also with another 48v Lifepo4 battery and the performance is also good.
I am interested to find the answer. I dis-assembled the new 26″ hub and the old July 2010 24″ hub and swapped the axle and windings from each motor, re-assembled them and tested again. The 26″ wheel now has 39km/h max speed and the old 24″ is 46km/h.

This tells us that the axle windings in each of the new wheels have much higher power capability than the older wheel.

Actually old hub motor and new hub are the same cost.
Everything is no changed,the same hub,the same rotor,the same magnet,except coil wires.
Change the gauge of the coil wires and/or the turns number of the coils can adjust motor speed,power etc.
Old hub motor is standard motor,it’s fit for US transportation law.26″ 36V 750W, the speed is 20 miles/hour.
If need extra speed,power etc..We can customize as your need.

Not surprising.This electric motor is ripe product and used for e-bikes widely in China.Anywhere you can find this kind of hub motor in China.
You did make a good choice and ordered ripe motor.It’s better than internal control motor.That kind the controller is built inside the motor,because of high temp,easy to break controller.If the internal controller is broken,all system is dead,should replace controller and motor together.

After repaired this hub motor by myself as instructions shown on this forum.I am much better to like this motor,like leafmotor’s forum.

This is brushless gearless high speed motor, compare to brushless geared motor.The second one has more powerful,but with a little gear noise.Now 750w and 1000w brushless geared hub motors can’t find in market.Most of geared motors are 250w.

We always think faster,better.But because of local law for ebike so that we can’t ride high power motor bike.
I received 36V 750W hub motor,then make a label ” 36V 500W” on it.

From you test,you think faster speed motor is more powerful,actually you are wrong.
Estimate motor performance:faster speed,less powerful,slower,more powerful.

About motor speed,power,I think leafmotor can customize it according as customers’ actual need.
